What do members and friends of GWS think about cybernetics?
In the open society, instead of a hierarchy at the top, there are various interacting instances, each of which takes on a function for society. With the means of social cybernetics and system theory, these interactions can be understood and assessed with regard to their future viability.
Cybernetics helps us uncover mechanisms that enable *new* forms of organizing and collective action - hopefully those that help us create environments worth living in.
Cybernetics makes it possible to understand the complexity of reality without unduly reducing it.
My research often deals with the complex interaction between humans and technology. Systems thinking helps to make the resulting structures and dynamics tangible.
With its evolutionary approach, the strategy integration at all system levels and viability as a central requirement, management cybernetics offers the perfect model for designing a modern, participatory business organization in manufacturing medium-sized companies.
